About Our Founder

Erica Okonkwo is the CEO and Founder of Self Care Sisters. Self Care Sisters is a lifestyle technology brand that specializes in working with women to achieve happiness and holistic wellness.

Erica believes that all women deserve the right to dwell in peace and harmony. She strongly advocates that women need to embrace and cultivate the art of resting, relaxing, rejuvenating, and recovering. She truly believes that a comprehensive self care plan can be a powerful pathway towards many women's quest to achieve self- healing, self-discovery, self-fulfillment, and self-actualization.

 

Erica is passionate about women's rights and women's issues. She attended all women's educational institutions for high school and university. She is a proud graduate of Marymount High School Los Angeles. Erica is also an alum of Mount Saint Mary's University. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a minor in English Literature.

 

Before starting Self Care Sisters, she worked primarily in the government and non-profit sectors as a marketing communications and fundraising consultant. Some of the amazing organizations she has worked with include AIDS Project Los Angeles, The Magic Johnson Foundation, The Los Angeles Department of Public Works, SD&A Teleservices, Grassroots Canvassing, Co-Abode, South Central Los Angeles Ministry Project, and The Downtown Women's Center.

 

Now as the Founder and CEO of Self Care Sisters, Erica is focused on creating safe and sacred spaces where women can connect to embrace wellness. She is a holistic health coach. She is a Certified Gua Sha Massage Therapist, Certified Aromatherapist, Certified Relaxation Therapist, Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Chakra Therapist, Certified Skin Care Specialist, and Certified Nutritionist.

 

Erica is married. She and her husband of 20 years are animal lovers. They support numerous animal rights and animal activist groups. During their marriage they have fostered over 50 cats and have raised 8 cats of their own. She and her husband share their home in the Caribbean with their cat.
